TCB players off to fast start in
2005 college season
Chris Fournier hit .545 in three games last week and he had the
game-winning hit in both of George Mason's wins as the sophomore third
baseman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.

Fournier, a transfer from Notre Dame, was 4 for 4 on Saturday against
Penn State, including the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth in a
5-4 win. He also had the game-winning RBI on Friday in a 9-5 win against
UNC Greensboro. Fournier had four RBI and scored three runs on the
weekend while going 6 for 11 at the plate. He also had seven walks for a
.667 on-base percentage. Fournier slugged .727 on the week.

For the season, Fournier leads the Patriots in batting average (.478), hits
(11), HR (2), RBI (10), doubles (3), walks (7), total bases (20), on-base
percentage (.613) and slugging (.870). He has the game-winning RBI in
all three of Mason's wins.

Brian Cavanaugh is hitting .500 in 7 games with East Carolina University.  
Cavanaugh is 8-16 with 3 runs and 5 RBI's as the Pirates started the
season 5-3.  Cavanaugh was 1-1 as a pinch hitter in the Pirates 10-0 win
over nationally ranked Clemson.

Gary Diaz is hitting .211 for Manhattan College, but leads the team with 5
RBI's, 8 runs, and 2 home runs.  Diaz has started all six games, 3 at
shortstop and 2 at second base as the Jaspers are off to a 3-3 start.  Diaz
will return this summer to coach with TCB as the 18 Americans Infield
Coach.

Tim Henry is batting .241 for the 8-3 University of Virginia.  Henry has
played in 9 games, starting 8.  He's scored 10 runs on 7 hits and has also
walked 6 times.

Juan Serrano is one of the few bright spots in Norfolk State University's
0-11 start.  The returning Freshman All-American is hitting .324 in 11
games with 12 hits, 3 doubles,  and 5 RBI's.
