The sophomore left-hander struck out six and didn’t issue a walk in the game. Frago didn’t get a decision as the Pride rallied to win the game in the ninth and recorded their school-record sixth CAA victory of the year. Chris Fournier (So) - George Mason University (24-13) - .314 Avg, 38 H, 121 AB, 36 R, 11 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 33 RBI 3/1/05 - Chris Fournier hit .545 in three games last week and he had the game-winning hit in both of George Mason's wins as the sophomore third baseman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week. Fournier, a transfer from Notre Dame, was 4 for 4 on Saturday against Penn State, including the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth in a 5-4 win. He also had the game-winning RBI on Friday in a 9-5 win against UNC Greensboro. Fournier had four RBI and scored three runs on the weekend while going 6 for 11 at the plate. He also had seven walks for a .667 on-base percentage. Fournier slugged .727 on the week. For the season, Fournier leads the Patriots in batting average (.478), hits (11), HR (2), RBI (10), doubles (3), walks (7), total bases (20), on-base percentage (.613) and slugging (.870). He has the game-winning RBI in all three of Mason's wins. Conference USA Brian Cavanaugh (Sr) - East Carolina University (24-16) - .367 Avg, 44 H, 120 AB, 28 R, 7 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 20 RBI Ivy League Brian Kelaher (Fr) - Brown University (19-17) - .400 Avg, 2 H, 5 AB Peter Moskal (Fr) - Brown University (19-17) - 0-0, 7.45 ERA, 9.2 IP, 8 R, 8 ER, 10 K Taylor Meehan (Fr) - Harvard University (21-12) - .200 Avg, 2 H, 10 AB, 3 R; 1-0, 3.07 ERA, 14.2 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 9 K Shawn Haviland (Fr) - Harvard University (21-12) - 5-1, 3.05 ERA, 44.1 IP, 26 R, 15 ER, 27 K 5/6/05 - Freshman Shawn Haviland (Farmington, Conn.) was named All Ivy League Honorable Mention. Haviland had an impressive freshman campaign, posting a 6-1 record. The six wins tied for the most in the Ivies and in his last game, he tossed his first complete game. He held batters to a .230 average and struck out 33 hitters in 51 innings of work. His 3.18 ERA was the lowest of the Harvard starting rotation. Schuyler Mann (Sr) - Harvard University (21-12) - .289 Avg, 33 H, 114 AB, 22 R, 6 2B, 6 HR, 33 RBI 5/6/05 - Harvard University senior captain Schuyler Mann (Trumbull, Conn.) was named All Ivy League first team at catcher for the second straight season. Mann backstopped a Crimson pitching staff that finished second in the Ivies in ERA and in 36 starts, he hit .292. The senior captain also blasted eight homer runs and drove in a team-best 37 runs. He swiped seven bases and collected seven doubles while slugging .531. Mann's 26 career home runs are the second most in school history. 3/15/05 - Schuyler Mann was named Ivy League Player of the Week. Mann picked up right where he left off last season, hitting .636 in the Crimson's opening weekend trip to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. Mann collected seven hits, including a 5-for-5 performance in a 9-1 victory against Minnesota, a team that made the NCAA tournament last season. Mann drove in four runs for the weekend, including two in the bottom of the sixth against St. John's turning a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win. Serrano, a sophomore, earned his second first-team honor in as many years. He leads NSU in almost every offensive category, including batting average (.360), hits (58), doubles (14), home runs (2) and runs batted in (27). The 2004 MEAC Rookie of the Year ranks fifth in the conference in batting. 4/11/05 - Serrano (3B, 5-10, So. Naugatuck, Conn) went 5-for-8 with five RBI and two doubles to help the Spartans to a doubleheader sweep of Delaware State. Serrano batted .500 for the week, hitting 8-or-16 in four games and increasing his current hitting streak to 11 games. Northeast Conference Jeff Mainetti (So) - Quinnipiac University (16-14) - .182 Avg, 4 H, 22 AB, 2 R, 1 RBI Kevin MacIlvane (Jr) - Quinnipiac University (16-14) - .223 Avg, 21 H, 94 AB, 15 R, 4 2B, 3 HR, 20 RBI Chris Gresh (Sr) - Quinnipiac University (16-14) - 3-2, 4.64 ERA, 25.2 IP, 20 R, 17 ER, 14 K Tom Pezzello (Sr) - Central Connecticut State University (13-20) - .388 Avg, 40 H, 103 AB, 23 R, 8 2B, 1 HR, 23 RBI 5/19/05 - Pezzellowas named to the Northeast Conference First Team. He led the team with a .351 batting average including team-highs in hits (54), runs scored (33), games played (46), walks (25), stolen bases (10) and on-base percentage (.443). Pezzello started 45 of 46 games played in his final season and belted a pair of home runs and was second on the team with 29 runs batted in. 5/12/05 - Senior outfielder Tom Pezzello was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First-Team for the second consecutive season, it was announced on Thursday. Pezzello is one of 11 players in District I and the only player from the Northeast Conference named to the First-Team. His name will be forwarded to the national ballot with the chance of being named a Verizon Academic All-American later this spring Derek Swilley (Fr) - Central Connecticut State University (13-20) - .242 Avg, 8 H, 33 AB, 7 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI Patriot League Tucker Frawley (Jr) - College of the Holy Cross (11-20) - .418 Avg, 41 H, 98 AB, 16 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 16 RBI 5/11/05 - Frawley (New Haven, Conn./Hopkins School) is Holy Cross' lone All-League member, gaining first team status after a second team showing a year ago. Frawley ranks second in batting both overall (.409) and in League games (.434). In games through May 8 his overall average tied him for 28th in the nation. Frawley has committed only two errors from his second base position Adam Bucci (Sr) - Lafayette College (15-23) - .283 Avg, 39 H, 138 AB, 19 R, 5 2B, 3 HR, 21 RBI 5/11/05 - Senior first baseman Adam Bucci (Trumbull, Conn./St. Luke's) gained acclaim for Lafayette as All Patriot League Second team member. Bucci hit .300 with 26 runs and 28 RBI, while his five home runs were a team-high. Bucci ended his career as the Leopards' all-time leader in games played with 173. 4/18/05 - Adam Bucci was named Patriot League Player of the Week. Bucci batted .500 with 10 hits last week as Lafayette went 4-2, including taking three of four from League foe Navy. Bucci upped his season average 42 points, now hitting .302 for the year. The senior first baseman collected seven RBI, scored six runs and recorded a double, with a hit in five of the Leopards' six games and etched three multi-hit outings. His best showing was a 4-for-4 day against St. Peter's. The Trumbull, Conn., native drew six walks last week. Ercolano is first in the League with his . 420 batting average, including a .347 mark in League games. His average ranked him 15th overall in the latest release of NCAA statistics. Ercolano owns a .572 slugging percentage with 10 doubles, one triple and three home runs. He leads the Mountain Hawks with 58 hits and ties for team-high honors with 33 runs 3/28/05 - Joe Ercolano was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Ercolano was six-for-12 at the plate over the three-game set, hitting safely in all three contests. Ercolano walloped his second home run of the season on Saturday. For the weekend, he scored three times and drove in three. Ercolano's slugging percentage was an impressive .833 for the weekend.
