Senior outfielder Tom Pezzello was named to the Northeast Conference
First-Team All-Conference squad, it was announced by the league office
on Thursday night.
Pezzello led the team with a .351 average. Pezzello, who last week was
chosen as a First Team Academic All-Region selection for the second
straight year, led the team with a .351 batting average including
team-highs in hits (54), runs scored (33), games played (46), walks (25),
stolen bases (10) and on-base percentage (.443). Pezzello started 45 of
46 games played in his final season and belted a pair of home runs and
was second on the team with 29 runs batted in.
In his three seasons in New Britain, Pezzello posted a .315 career
average with 48 games played, 154 hits, six home runs and 104 RBI.
Senior outfielder Tom Pezzello was named to the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District
First-Team for the second consecutive season, it was announced on
Thursday. Pezzello is one of 11 players in District I and the only player from
the Northeast Conference named to the First-Team. His name will be
forwarded to the national ballot with the chance of being named a Verizon
Academic All-American later this spring.
Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve with
legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point
average (on a 4.0 scale).
