5/28/05 Bristol, Ct - TCB 13 Hartford held off the Connecticut Mustangs 8-6 to win the 1st Annual NEIBT on Sunday. TCB went 3-1 on the weekend, with their only loss coming in the preliminary round to the Mustangs. TCB would get revenge in the title game at Muzzy Field, jumping out to an early 5-3 lead and then holding on for the win. TCB got a number of great performances over the weekend. Tim Kiene, playing his first games after a broken finger, hit .538 on the weekend. Kiene was 7-13 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI's, and 5 runs scored. Ty Reed and Pat Doolittle both hit .500 and each had key hits over the weekend. More impressive than the offense, TCB pitchers and defense allowed only 17 runs, 11 earned, in 27 innings. The staff ERA in 4 games was an outstanding 2.85 and TCB pitchers issued only 13 walks. Pat Doolittle, Evan Couture, and Bryan Tatelman each earned wins on the mound, Tatelman's in the title game. Matt Dahlman was strong in relief earning a save in the quarterfinals and finals, and Dave Wyrick was took a tough loss 1-0, allowing only 1 unearned runs in 6 innings. TCB returns to action Wednesday in a Super East League Game, before starting the Connecticut AAU State Championships on Friday.
