5/31/05 TCB 13u South took 2nd place in the War at the Shore Memorial Day weekend tournament in East Lyme, CT. The Blue Jays won their first two games on Saturday in convincing fashion, winning by a combined total of 22-4 against the Waterford Lancers and the East Lyme Vikings. Sunday was highlighted by a late inning rally, again against the Vikings, with the biggest hit coming off the bat of catcher Jeff St. Pierre, putting the Jays ahead for good and springing them into the championship game against the Cheshire Reds. SS Johnny Pritts, 1B Buddy Bajersky, and OF Jimmy Hill also got big hits to fuel the rally.
The Reds outlasted the Jays on Monday, however, taking the championship game 11-9. 2B Eric Anderson was named team MVP for the tournament. "Eric did everything a coach could ask of a player, whether it be laying a down a bunt, stealing a base, or getting a big base hit in a timely spot," said head coach, Adam Taraska. "He also played fantastic defense all weekend." P Matt Keene and P Jimmy Hill carried the load for the Jays on the mound all weekend, each having 2 appearances and both doing fine jobs. TCB 13U south jumps back into action this weekend when they start play in the Division 1 AAU State tournament.
