5/30/06 - Nashua South shortstop Kevin Nolan was named the Gatorade New Hampshire Baseball Player of the Year, Gatorade Thirst Quencher announced this week.

At the time of his selection, Nolan, a 6-foot-1 inch, 195-pound infielder was batting .633 with 12 RBIs and nine stolen bases through seven games. In 2005, he batted .475, drove in 31 runs and was named the Class L Player of the Year and MVP of the state tournament, during which the Panthers were crowned champions.

Nolan is a three-year starter for the Panthers’ basketball team, as well as a three-time first-team All-State selection on the diamond.

“Kevin is the total package,” Nashua South coach B.J. Neverett said, “He has been a four-year starter in one of the top programs in New Hampshire. He has also been a captain for two years. His is a leader in school as well as on the playing field.”

Nolan maintains a 4.2 GPA at Nashua South in honors curriculum and will attend Winthrop University in the fall.

Gatorade recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in football, baseball, volleyball, and softball, as well as soccer, basketball and track and field.
