TCB Hartford 13's & 14's Sweep Doubleheaders on Saturday |

4/13/07 - The TCB Hartford 13's and 14's opened up the 2007 season in style this past Saturday with doubleheader sweeps. This were the first games for both teams in the Super East Baseball League, putting both teams records at 2-0 early in the season.
TCB 13 Hartford opened up the day with a 9:00am doubleheader against the Connecticut Blaze 13's at Martin Park in East Hartford, Connecticut. It was a close 2-1 game until TCB scored 14 runs in the bottom of the third and went on to earn the victory 19-2. The second game was much more of the same as TCB earned the shutout 10-0.
Greg Pelligrinelli (Manchester, CT) and Colin Sledzik (Higganum, CT) earned wins on the mound. Pelligrinelli threw 3 scoreless innings of relief in the first game with 5 strikeouts. Sledzik started the second game and did not allow a run in 3 innings of work with 2 strikeouts. TCB also got strong pitching from Brett Madore (Bristol, CT), Bobby Solecki (Glastonbury, CT), and Carson Helms (Farmington, CT). TCB allowed only 2 runs in 13 innings while allowing only 8 hits.
Offensively, TCB was led by Kyle Richards (Glastonbury, CT) who went 4-6 on the day with 2 triples and 4 runs scored. Sledzik was also 4-6 with a double and Devin Over (Windsor, CT) was 4-7 with 6 runs scored. Madore and Chris Reckmeyer (West Hartford, CT) each had three hits, with Reckmeyer adding 2 doubles. Solecki, Pelligrinelli, Tommy Ehrhardt (Glastonbury, CT), and Matt Rivera (New Britain, CT) all had multiple hits on the day. Every TCB player had at least one hit and 11 of the 12 scored at least one run.
The TCB 14's continued the successful day with an afternoon doubleheader sweep of the New England Ruffnecks by scores of 6-4 and 5-2. Rob DeCosmo (Agawam, MA) was the offensive leader going 6-6 with a home run, double, 2 runs and 3 rbi's. Danny Palazzo (Rocky Hill, CT) had 2 hits in the first game and Matt Warren (Wilbraham, MA) had 2 hits in the second game.
Gregg Kirkpatrick (Lebanon, CT) earned his first win on the mound in game one. Kirkpatrick threw 3 hitless scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Tyler Burley (Hebron, CT) earned the win in relief in game two. Burley faced only 10 hitters in 3 innings of work and did not allow a hit. Adam Camilleri (Chester, CT) picked up the save with two scoreless innings of relief in the second game.
TCB 13 Hartford faces the TCB 13 South in a doubleheader this Saturday in East Hartford while TCB 14 Hartford faces the South Shore Seadogs Saturday in West Hartford.
