1/14/07 - In the recently updated Class of 2009 National Rankings as release by Perfect Game Cross Checker this past week, TCB USA has two players ranked in the Top 10 Nationally.

Michael Theodore of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan was ranked #6 nationally, and the #2 pitcher. Tommy Winegardner of St Leonard, Maryland was ranked #10 nationally, and the #3 middle infielder. Theodore and Winegardner both played for the TCB USA Americans at the 2006 World Wood Bat Association Underclass World Championship.

According to PG Cross Checker, Theodore is a "6'2"/190 athletic RHP, touching 90, good CB, at Underclass Championship." Winegardner's report goes "Very polished player all around, big arm, throws 90 from the mound."

In an interview with Mike Levandowski, who coached Theodore and Windegardner at the Underclass World Championship, he said "I'm very happy for both of these young men. They both have a tremendous amount of talent and it's great that they're able to get recognized on the national level."

At the Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers, Florida this past October, TCB USA finished with a 3-2 record. Theodore threw 4.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, with 6 strikeouts. His fastball was up to 89 in Ft Myers that weekend. At the Underclass National Showcase a few weeks ago, Theodore was again up to 89 and was named to the Top Prospect Game.

Winegardner was one of the leaders offensively for TCB USA in Ft Myers in October. He hit .417, going 5-12, with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. He also tossed an inning on the mound, picking up a win, and touching 90 mph with his fastball. Winegardner was also at the Underclass National Showcase in December, where he was voted the Top 2009 by the PG Scouting Staff. He was 89 mph across the infield with his fastball touching 90 mph once again.

"Both of these players obviously have outstanding arms. They are also very determined and competitive players. It's going to be exciting to see them as they develop over the next few years. I can't wait to see them next October in Ft Myers for TCB USA, if not sooner," said Levandowski.
