6/6/08 - The Major League Baseball First Year Amateur Player Draft concluded today in New York. TCB had twelve current or former players selected over the 50 rounds of the draft.

 

Scott Barnes was selected in the 8th round by the San Francisco Giants. Barnes was a junior left handed pitcher at St John's University. He played for TCB in 2003.

 

Brett Anderson was selected in the 12th round by the Detroit Tigers. The shortstop has committed to Franklin Pierce College for the fall of 2008. Anderson played for the 18 Americans in 2007 and is on the 18 Americans again in 2008.

 

Brian Irving was selected in the 17th round by the San Francisco Giants. He was a senior right handed pitcher at Yale University. Irving played for TCB in 2002 and 2003 and was a member of the 2002 TCB National Championship team.

 

Thomas Koehler was selected in the 18th round by the Florida Marlins. He is a senior right handed pitcher from Stony Brook University. Koehler played for TCB at the 2003 WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida.

 

Liam Ohlmann was selected in the 20th round by the Milwaukee Brewers. He is a right handed pitcher from Manchester Community College. He played for TCB in 2002 and 2003. He also played for TCB at the 2003 WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida.

 

Michael Moras was selected in the 20th round by the New York Mets. He attended the University of New Haven. Moras played for TCB in 2002.

 

Brent Warren was selected in the 27th round by the Oakland Athletics. An outfielder, he has committed to Oregon State University for the fall of 2008. Warren is from Robins, Iowa and played for TCB at the 2005 and 2006 World Wood Bat Association Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers, Florida.

 

Lee Ridenhour was selected in the 31st round by the Minnesota Twins. A right handed pitcher, he has committed to the University of Kansas for the fall of 2008. Ridenhour is from Lenexa, Kansas and played for TCB at the 2006 World Wood Bat Association Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers, Florida.

 

Shawn Haviland was selected in the 33rd round by the Oakland Athletics. A right handed pitcher, Shawn was a senior at Harvard University. He played for TCB from 1999 to 2003, and was a member of the 2002 TCB National Championship team.

 

Jordan Jankowski was selected in the 34th round by the Houston Astros. A catcher/right handed pitcher, Jordan has committed to the University of Miami-Ohio for the fall of 2008. Jankowski is from McMurray, Pennsylvania and played for TCB at the 2006 World Wood Bat Association Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers, Florida.

 

Dexter Price was selected in the 43rd round by Milwaukee Brewers. A right handed pitcher from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dexter has committed to Auburn University for the fall of 2008. Price played for TCB at the 2006 World Wood Bat Association Underclass World Championship in Ft Myers, Florida.

 

George Springer was selected in the 48th round by the Minnesota Twins. An outfielder, Springer has committed to the University of Connecticut for the fall of 2008. Springer has played for TCB since 2003 and is on the 18 Americans for the 2008 summer season.

 

This brings the total number of TCB Alumni drafted to 30 in 15 years of the program.
