6/6/08 - The Major League Baseball First Year Amateur Player Draft concluded today in New York. TCB had twelve current or former players selected over the 50 rounds of the draft.

 

AJ Pollock was selected in the 1st round, 17th overall, by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pollock was a junior centerfielder at University of Notre Dame. He played for TCB in 2001 & 2002.

 

Jake Cowan was selected in the 10th round by the Baltimore Orioles. The right handed pitcher was a sophomore at San Jacinto JC. Cowan played for the 18 Americans in 2007 and is on the 18 Americans again in 2008.

 

Josh Zeid was selected in the 10th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a senior right handed pitcher at Tulane University. Zeid played for TCB in 2002 and 2003.

 

Vin DiFazio was selected in the 12th round by the Texas Rangers. He is a senior catcher from University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa. DiFazio played for TCB at the 2003 WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida.

 

Casey Frawley was selected in the 17th round by the Cleveland Indians. Frawley is a junior centerfielder from Stetson University. He played for TCB in 2002 and 2003.

 

Kevin Nolan was selected in the 20th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Nolan is a junior shortstop from Winthrop University. He played for TCB from 2004 to 2006.

 

Alex Hassan was selected in the 20th round by the Boston Red Sox. Hassan is a junior right handed pitcher from Duke University. He played for TCB at the 2004 WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida.

 

Dan Kemp was selected in the 24th round by the Boston Red Sox. He is a senior shortstop at Tantasqua High School in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and has committed to Franklin Pierce University for the fall of 2009. Dan played for TCB in 2007 and 2008.

 

Kyle McKenzie was selected in the 30th round by the New York Yankees. He is a senior right handed pitcher at Thayer Academy and has committed to Tulane University for the fall of 2009.

 

Pat Irvine was selected in the 33rd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is a senior left fielder from Elon University. Pat played for TCB in 2004 and 2005.

 

This brings the total number of TCB Alumni drafted to 40 in 16 years of the program.
