With combined fellowship training in orthopedic and neuro-surgical spine surgery, care of the spine is Dr. Eisler’s area of special expertise. “Orthopedics is an area that combines many aspects of medicine, including neurology and the mechanical nature of the body,” he says. “I find that connection to bio-mechanics and function very interesting, particularly in the spine, where it’s so complex. There’s so much we can do and so much that’s still unknown.”

People with back pain often fear the worst, but only a small number actually need surgery, he points out. “Physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, Tai Chi – all of these things can help. Sometimes we just need to help give the body’s natural healing process some time to work.”

The father of three daughters, Dr. Eisler enjoys family time, cooking, watercolor painting and travel when he’s not seeing patients. It’s gratifying when people who have been suffering from pain can say that the treatment they received has changed their life,” he says. “That’s always nice to hear.”
