Peter J. Karl joined Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) in July of 2004 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and was named President and Chief Executive Officer in December of 2004.  He had previously served as President of Wayne Hospital in Wayne, New Jersey, one of the hospitals in the St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, based in Paterson, New Jersey, where he also served as Senior Vice President of Operations for the system.  He had joined the system initially as Vice President of Clinical Services.  He was previously associated with Stamford Hospital, where he served as Vice President of Ambulatory Services and Director of Radiological Services.

 

He holds a B.S. degree in Management from Salem College in West Virginia and graduated from the Danbury Hospital School of Radiologic Technology.  He received an MBA from the University of New Haven.

 

A resident of Glastonbury, Peter and his wife, Donna, have three children, Joseph, Daniel and Victoria.  His sons are very active in South Windsor Youth Hockey Association and the Glastonbury Little League.
