Coach Zabroski began his Team Connecticut coaching career in 1997 with the 14u team that finished 12th Nationally at the AAU National Tournament in Cocoa Beach, Florida. In 1998, he coached on the 15u team that finished 5th Nationally. Pete was an assistant coach on the 1999 16u team, captained by his son Michael Zabroski, that captured the USSSA National Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 11 years with TCB as an assistant coach/pitching coach, Pete's teams had 6 Top Ten National Finishes.
A 1974 graduate of Hartford Public High School, Pete was a four year varsity player, where he still holds records for career ERA (1.14) and season ERA (0.32 in 1974). Zabroski turned down a contract offer from the Kansas City Royals to attend the University of Notre Dame. He pitched four years in South Bend, becoming the Irish closer midway through his sophomore season. An injury to his rotator cuff his senior season effectively ended his pitching career. Pete graduated from Notre Dame with a Psychology Degree in 1978.
Coach Zabroski was inducted to the Hartford Public High School Hall of Fame as part of the 4th Class in 2006. In August of 2007, he was inducted as a coach into TCB's inaugural Hall of Fame class.
Pete resides in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, with his wife of 29 years, Maritza and daughter Danielle. He is the proud father of his late son, Michael, who played in the Team Connecticut program from 1996 to 2001 and was a recipient of the TCB Lifetime Dedication Award. Michael was tragically killed on January 26, 2004, on his 21st birthday, while in his junior year at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Michael's #16 jersey was subsequently retired throughout the TCB program. The Team Connecticut Award was renamed the Michael Zabroski TCB award, and a Memorial Golf Tournament is held in his honor, organized by the Zabroski family, every fall.
