Team Connecticut Blue Jays
End Of Year Banquet
New England Collegiate Baseball League Commissioner Kevin MacIlvane speaks at the 2004 TCB Banquet
8/25/04 - The Team Connecticut Blue Jays End of Year Banquet was held
last night and a tremendous season was capped off by an incredible
evening. There were numerous presentations made and many honored
guests of the TCB program.

Dinner was followed by remarks from New England Collegiate League
Baseball Commissioner Kevin MacIlvane.  The NECBL is one of the
premier summer wood bat leagues in the entire country with 325 top level
players.  This past summers rosters featured 15 former TCB players.
MacIlvane also introduced several honored guests:
Former Brooklyn Dodger, and Retired Scout Dick Teed
Cincinnati Reds Scout John Walsh
New York Mets Scout Greg Morhardt
Quinnipiac University Assistant Coach Joe Tonelli
Several Quinnipiac University Baseball Players

Super East Baseball President Dan Kennedy then joined Kevin MacIlvane
as he presented the Super East Baseball/Louisville Slugger Coach of the
Year Awards. Paul Steiner from RHAM High School was named the 2004
Connecticut High School Coach of the Year after his team won the Class L
State Championship. Dan Gooley from Quinnipiac University was named
the 2004 Connecticut College Coach of the Year after a second place
finish in the Northeast Conference where he was also named Conference
Coach of the Year.

A very special presentation was then made. As many of you know, on
January 26th, 2004, Team Connecticut lost one if its own, Michael
Zabroski.  TCB Director Dan Kennedy led the TCB Family in several
dedications.  The Team Connecticut Blue Jay Award, which recognizes the
player that best represents the TCB program was renamed the Michael
Zabroski Team Connecticut Blue Jay Award.  A framed jersey and picture
was presented as Michael's number 16 jersey will never be worn again.
Finally, a plaque was presented to the Zabroski family reading the
following:
In Michael there was not a better son, brother, grandson,
nephew, friend, or teammate. I now understand why we love
our Team Connecticut program so much . . .To be lucky enough
be touched by someone like Michael Zabroski.
Thank You Mikey.
Coach Kennedy

Following the special dedication, the team plaques and individual awards
were presented.  TCB was also luck this year to have 2 Lifetime
Dedication Award Winners, presented to players who have participated in
the TCB program for 6 years.  The Award Winners are
Jason Morytko and
Jason Rago.  The night was capped off with the TCB Slideshow.

Once again, we thank all the players and parents for a great season and
we look forward to next year.
