| LANCASTER, CA-- Following the game on Sunday, the 2004 first-half South Division Champion Lancaster JetHawks, and the Arizona Diamondbacks announced several changes to the California League affiliate’s roster. A total of six players have been promoted, and five players have been named to the JetHawks roster. The JetHawks players that have been promoted are: outfielders Conor Jackson and Carlos Quentin, infielders Jamie D’Antona and Neb Brown, along with pitchers Clint Goocher and Justin Bulger. All the players will depart following Sunday’s game in Bakersfield. All the players being promoted are going to AA-El Paso of the Texas League, and all players coming to Lancaster are coming from El Paso. The players that have been named by the Diamondbacks to fill the spots on the JetHawks roster are: former JetHawks Dan Uggla and Jay Garthwaite. Pitchers Sam Smith and Sergio Lizarraga, and infielder Steve Garabrance. Outfielder Doc Brooks, who started the year with the JetHawks is also returning to Lancaster. Jackson (.345-11-54), Quentin (.310-15-51), and D’Antona (.315-13-57) all finished the first half of the 2004 season hitting over .300, with double digits home runs, and driving in fifty or more runs for the JetHawks. Jackson also finishes the first half having hit in a California League-high nineteen straight games. Goocher (9-2 / 3.67) was leading the California League win nine wins, and Bulger (0-1 / 1.52) had recorded a team high eleven saves in eleven opportunities. Jackson, Goocher, and D’Antona were all selected to play in the California/Carolina League All-Star Game, but will not be available. They have been replaced on the All-Star roster by Jarred Ball, Danny Richar, and Justin Wechsler. |
