| Norfolk, VA — Norfolk State second baseman Juan Serrano (Bridgeport, Conn./Notre Dame Catholic) was named to a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, as announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Serrano, the first-ever Spartan to be named MEAC Rookie of the Year, was named to the Freshman All-American Team at designated hitter. He batted .352 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 39 RBI. He played mostly second base but also chipped in at third. Serrano was one of 74 players nationwide and the only p[layer from the MEAC chosen for the distinction. It adds to his long list of accomplishments from his rookie season at NSU, which includes first- team All-MEAC designation and first-team Black College Baseball Elite squad member.
